This Jim Carrey Flick Just Hit #1 on Netflix—& It's Definitely the Must-Watch Movie of the Week

Move over, Christmas Chronicles 2. Jim Carrey’s original Christmas classic just made its way to the number one spot on Netflix’s most popular movie list.

Yep. Just two days before the holiday, How the Grinch Stole Christmas is officially the most-watched flick on the streaming platform surpassing Let it Snow, Christmas with the Kranks, Klaus and more. If you're like us, you’ve probably watched HTGSC already this season (and in previous years). However, we’ll take any excuse to screen the comedy again. And if you haven’t seen it yet, you’ve still got some time.

In short, Carrey stars as the antisocial Grinch who absolutely hates Christmas. The bitter and hateful Grinch becomes increasingly irritated at the thought of the nearby village planning their big Christmas celebrations. To ruin their holiday, he disguises himself as Santa Claus (and his dog to look like a reindeer) and travels to the village to raid it of all of the presents, trees and decorations. But after a run-in with a little girl, he begins to have a change of heart.

Based on Dr. Seuss’s book of the same name, How the Grinch Stole Christmas also stars Taylor Momsen (Gossip Girl), Jeffrey Tambor (Arrested Development), Christine Baranski (Mama Mia), Bill Irwin (Lady in the Water), Molly Shannon (Never Been Kissed), Clint Howard (The Waterboy) and Mindy Sterling (Austin Powers). Oh, and we can’t forget Kelley who plays our beloved Max the dog.

What better way to get into the holiday spirit than with a little comic relief from our good pal Jim? In the words of Mr. Grinch himself, “Cheer up dude, it’s Christmas!”
