Whoa, This ‘Firefly Lane’ Star Was Unrecognizable in ‘She’s the Man’

The countdown is on until the premiere of Netflix’s Firefly Lane season 2 on December 2. As you’re watching the show, you may recognize Brandon Jay McLaren (who plays Travis), but you may not know from where.

The actor has quite an impressive resume, ranging from Rookie to Girlfriends Guide to Divorce. However, we never realized that he also starred in a little rom-com called She’s the Man.

You probably remember McLaren as Toby, a student who lives down the hall from Amanda Bynes (Viola/Sebastian) and Channing Tatum (Duke). As of friend of Duke’s, Toby is featured in countless scenes—including the one where Bynes puts a tampon in her nose. (“You stick it right in, it absorbs right up.”)

While that quote is said by Viola, Toby also has several memorable lines, including, “Screw you guys. I hate high school.”

Of course, McLaren isn’t the only actor who had a guest role in She’s the Man. There’s also Alexandra Breckenridge, who portrayed Monique in the ’00s flick. The actress went on to portray Sophie in This Is Us and Mel in Virgin River—but long before her television days, she gave a memorable performance as Sebastian’s needy girlfriend.

It’s a small world, after all.
