I'll admit I have not seen most of the movies that were nominated (aside from Wicked), but I did pay close attention to all the beauty looks from last night's award show. And aside from the influx of updos and bobs, I spotted one trend I predict is going to be huge in spring: pearl hair pins.

Lupita Nyong'o walked the red carpet, decked out in pearls from head to toe. The actress wore a custom pearl-embed Chanel dress, pearl drop earrings and even pearl decals on her nails, but it was truly the elegant updo with pearl accents scattered throughout that caught my eye.

Celebrity hairstylist Vernon Francois shared his gorgeous creation on his Instagram. In the close-up shot, you can see her mini locs are woven into a twisted bun, featuring a few pearl hair pins and a larger French hair pin in the middle to hold her updo in place. Can this possibly be a go-to look for spring, or at least, for the upcoming wedding you're attending?

The stylist also shared he used a bunch of Olaplex products—like the No.7 Bonding Oil ($30)—and Olivia Garden hair tools, including their Super HP Hair Dryer ($300) and Dazzle Styler Smooth & Shine Brush ($22). He told InStyle, "This look was inspired by the regal nature of Lupita's presence and the elegance of traditional African hairstyles, reimagined with a couture sensibility. It was blending heritage with high fashion, making it both powerful and poetic."

If you're looking to wear the coolest hair accessory of the season—regardless if you're heading to a red carpet anytime soon—I found five to get you started.
