9 Fall Beauty Trends to Know Now (Before Everyone Else)

It’s hard to believe that fall is just around the corner, but here we are. And though we aren’t quite ready to swap out our strappy dresses for knit sweaters yet, we wouldn’t mind getting a head start on some new beauty trends. Here are nine we’re hopping on now.

14 Natural Hair Trends for Fall, According to Top Hairstylists

1. Hydrating Skin Tints

Full-coverage foundations are taking a backseat to sheer, tinted formulas instead. The goal is to soften any discoloration (i.e, any splotchiness or dark shadows), but not completely cover things up, while moisturizing skin. Plus, a lightweight base lays the groundwork for the other, more colorful trends you’re about to see next.

2. Contrasting Textures

Satin skin + matte lips = the chicest combo. The two different finishes offer a nice contrast that feels seasonally appropriate as we start cozying up in lush layers again.

Get the look: Glo Skin Beauty Pressed Base Powder Foundation ($40); Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Lipstick ($42)

3. Glazed Donut Nails

The frosted manicure has been everywhere these days and it doesn't show any signs of stopping this fall. The shiny nude look is reminiscent of a glazed donut (hence, the name) and started taking off earlier this year after Hailey Bieber wore it to this year’s Met Gala.

Get the look: OPI Nail Lacquer in "Funny Bunny" ($11) and "Kyoto Pearl" ($12 at Amazon)

4. Expensive Hair

For our blondes and brunettes out there who are looking for a subtle change, try giving your strands an "expensive" update. The trending style boosts your natural hair color (usually by way of some lowlights, babylights and/or gloss to give the overall shade dimension so it doesn’t fall flat). Keep the shine going at home with a rinse-out gloss.

5. Metallic Eyes

Aka the final frontier for all the Y2K throwbacks we’ve been seeing since last year. Whereas in 2001, we may have painted our entire lid in frosted eyeshadow, in 2022, we’re sticking to some subtle shimmer around the eyes.

Get the look: RÓEN Disco Eye ($29)

6. Jewel Tones

The best inspiration is often found in nature. Case in point: The opulent emerald and sapphire tones that are poised to dominate this fall. Whether you rim your eyes in color or opt for a more subtle wash or flick of liner, you can’t go wrong.

7. Blue Mani

Speaking of jewel tones, if rocking them on your eyes isn't your style, you could also try wearing them on your nails instead. We love a lush blue mani, which offers a crisp transition between summer and fall, as the shade is bright, but deeply saturated.

Get the look: Olive & June Nail Polish in "Blueberry Muffin" ($9)

8. Brick Blush

The sunburnt blush trend that was all over TikTok this summer isn’t going anywhere for fall. If anything, the shade range is just getting deeper. Swap your usual pink- or peach-toned blush for a rich terracotta or rusted brick to keep your cheeks glowing as your tan fades.

Get the look: Monika Blunder Liquid Flush Cheek Tint Blush in "Rome" ($28)

9. Black and Bold Liner

Graphic liner looks have been trending for a while now, but this fall, we’re going to see more colorful variations of popular styles. As makeup artist Katie Jane Hughes shows to great effect here, a pop of hot pink adds a crisp contrast to black liner, further accentuating the design (and your eyes).

Get the look: Ilia Clean Line Gel Liner in "Twilight" ($26); Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Eye Shadow Palette ($45)
