Your Weekly Horoscopes: May 2 to 8, 2021

It’s still Taurus season, but this week, things start (literally) buzzing as both Mercury and Venus move into Gemini. Think of this week’s energy like an Adele song (the singer has the sun in Taurus with Mercury and Venus in Gemini): a slow ballad peppered with sharp insights. Under this influence, we seek intellectual—rather than purely physical—connections. Our conversations (and all those work meetings that could have been an email) are fast-paced and lighthearted. Despite all this quick-witted chatter though, things take on a heavier tone when the sun squares off with Saturn on the 3rd. Whatever projects, relationships or moves we’re about to make could use more careful consideration. Let’s not rush into anything.

(Horoscopes follow for each sign. If you know your rising sign, reading for that will provide further insight.)

1 taurus

Your ruling planet Venus is spending her last week in your sign, so don’t hesitate to splurge on all the things you want. You’ve been keeping an iPhone note of skincare, summer wardrobe options and kitchen gadgets that bring you joy and now’s the moment to make those purchases. Click buy before Venus enters your financial sector on the 8th and your goal becomes reworking your budget.

This week’s mantra: Shop ‘til you drop.

2 gemini

After a few weeks of laying low, you’re finally feeling like yourself again this week. Mercury—your ruling planet—moves into your sign on the 3rd, making it impossible for others to ignore your voice. Send that Twitter thread! Speak your truth at the all-hands company Zoom! Then on the 8th, Venus moves into your sign as well and you’re inspired to finally get that pixie cut or update your wardrobe. That’s right! You’re feeling yourself!

This week’s mantra: Do you!

3 cancer

Your energy is low this week as the moon wanes toward the end of her cycle. Though you’re also dealing with some sensitive relationship dynamics—whether that’s with your boyfriend or your business partner—resist the urge to give all your energy to someone else. Grab your weighted blanket and spend as much time as you can recharging on the couch, especially once Venus moves into your unconscious sector on the 8th.

This week’s mantra: Rest is best.

4 leo

Challenges are ahead this week as you work with your business partner to get your enterprise up and running. On the 3rd, you find it especially difficult to let go of your ego while making a tough decision. Remember that this year is about learning to work as part of a team. Venus enters your friendship sector on the 8th helping you feel extra loved and appreciated, despite any stressful commitments.

This week’s mantra: You’re not alone.

5 virgo

Mercury—your ruling planet—enters your career sector on the 3rd. If you’ve been craving a change in your work situation, now’s the time to start getting those details in order. Mercury squares off with Jupiter on the same day challenging you to dream bigger than you’ve ever dreamed. So ask for a raise, order the standing desk for your home office and revisit all the resolutions you set at the top of the year.

This week’s mantra: Be here now.

6 libra

Watch out for overspending this week as your ruling planet Venus forms a square with expansive Jupiter (peaking on the 8th). Though you’re tempted to splurge on a Vitamix or everything from the new collection at Uniqlo, this transit could also help you consolidate a debt or refinance your car loan. You want a treat now, but it’s more important to think about the future.

This week’s mantra: Plan ahead.

7 scorpio

Your ruling planet Mars was in Gemini from March 3 through April 23, and in that time, you were dealing with constant stress over debts, taxes and shared resources. With Venus—planet of love and connection—heading into Gemini on the 8th, you now have the opportunity to smooth over some of that mess and reverse some of your hastier decisions. Start by making a list of everything that needs to be fixed.

This week’s mantra: Thank goddess for second chances.

8 sagittarius

Since late December, you’ve been making the most of what’s available to you in your neighborhood—scouting the best local coffee, volunteering with a mutual aid group and even joining a socially distanced book club. All of these efforts really start to solidify this week as you realize that on an environmental level, you’ve been able to totally rebuild your life. Participating in local events on both the 3rd and the 8th is sure to be rewarding.

This week’s mantra: Enjoy your little corner of the world.

Last spring as we all settled into our “quarantine routine,” you were forced more than others to rework your daily grind. As Venus enters Gemini (where she was from April to August of last year) on the 8th, you’re ready to once again switch up your WFH space or completely change your daily schedule. Try out a new Zoom Pilates class, download that meditation app or explore a different route for your afternoon walk.

This week’s mantra: The world runs on change.

10 aquarius

Things could get romantic for you this week, dear Aquarius, as Venus enters your pleasure sector on the 8th. For much of March and April, you were putting a lot of energy into dating but not necessarily making any positive connections. This week—with Mercury also entering Gemini on the 3rd—you’re feeling extra flirty and forward. So don’t be shy—ask that hottie on a date!

This week’s mantra: Go for it!

11 pisces

Both Mercury and Venus move into your home sector this week and you’re feeling ready to settle the score with your sister. This conflict has gone on way too long (potentially since Venus was last in Gemini from April through August of 2020) and though you’re still hurt, it’s time to accept her apology and move on. Clearing out issues from the past gets you ready for what’s about to come.

This week’s mantra: There’s no such thing as a perfect family.

12 aries

Mercury glides into your communication sector on the 3rd and an intriguing email arrives in your inbox. This is an extremely tempting offer (like, totally leveling up in your career) but it comes with a catch (it’s only the very first interview of a long hiring process). Look at this as a chance to explore the option without having to commit. Over the next few weeks, there’s plenty of connection coming your way.

This week’s mantra: Everything starts somewhere.
