‘Sleep Supporters’ Are the Next Big Thing in Beauty. Here’s Why

You’ve heard of beauty sleep (and have tried more than a few tricks to achieve it). But the one product to help you achieve that well-rested glow may actually be in your pantry.

According to a new trend report from Whole Foods, “sleep supporters” (think warm milk-like nighttime drinks, sleep-enhancing supplements and “sleep soaps”) are the next big thing for beauty in 2019.

And, not to gloat, but we definitely called it. We’ve been singing the praises of Dirty Lemon’s blend of filtered water, cold-pressed lemon juice, Bulgarian rosewater, chamomile, passionflower, lemon balm and magnesium glycinate—aka its sleep drink—for quite some time. The elixir is touted to promote calmness and drowsiness, helping you get a deeper, more restful night’s sleep.

But what the heck is a “sleep supplement” you ask? Nope, it’s not your mama’s melatonin. Whole Foods is selling its own variety, the Sleep Support Liquid Capsules, with Valerian root extract, passionflower and L-theanine to knock you out. (*Making a mental note to pack for our next transatlantic flight.*)

And then there’s a sleep bath salt block (say that five times fast) from Pacha Soap Co. Drop the salt block into a warm bath and sink into the relaxing aroma of lavender, chamomile and other essential oils.

Yeah, just call us sleeping beauty. (But also, keep it down: We’re hittin’ the hay.)
