‘Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt’ Is Getting an Interactive Netflix Special

Break out the pinot noir and get ready to troll the respawn, Jeremy, because Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is returning to Netflix for a special event. But first, it’s getting a little makeover.

Hot on the heels of its season four ending, the Tina Fey and Robert Carlock–created comedy is coming back to the streaming platform for an interactive special.

Similar to Black Mirror’s Bandersnatch, viewers will be able to make choices for the show’s characters, Kimmy (Ellie Kemper), Titus (Tituss Burgess), Lillian (Carol Kane) and Jacqueline (Jane Krakowski). Each choice will reveal a different outcome and, as Fey explained Wednesday during a Netflix For Your Consideration Emmy panel, “different jokes.”

“We’re thrilled to announce that we’re about to start production on an all-new interactive Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt special, set to debut on Netflix in 2020,” Fey said. “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt was one of the first original comedy series on Netflix, and now it will be its first interactive comedy event.”

The creator went on to say, “Fans will be able to make choices on behalf of our characters, taking different story paths with, of course, different jokes. I think it’s a great fit for our show and will be a great way to officially complete the series.”

Just when we thought we had to say goodbye to Kimmy Schmidt and her particular brand of quirkiness forever, there’s this. We’re more excited than beef jerky in a ball gown.
