Tracee Ellis Ross Pulled Out Powerful Interview Clip to Wish Pal Oprah Winfrey a Happy Birthday

What could be better than seeing our favorite Hollywood stars supporting one another? Yesterday, January 29, the Queen of All Media, aka Oprah Winfrey, celebrated her 69th birthday. So, the talk show host's good pal and fellow Hair Tales producer, Tracee Ellis Ross, headed on over to Instagram to show her love for Lady O.

“Happy birthday @oprah!” Ross wrote. “Grateful for all the wonderful conversations we’ve had, and the beautiful conversations we shared with the world through The Hair Tales.”

In her dedicated post, the Black-ish star included a video from an episode of The Hair Tales (of which she and Winfrey were both executive producers), where Winfrey discusses how Black women have faced discrimination for their natural hair. “Women should be able to wear their hair in whatever way makes them feel most confident and most beautiful,” the OWN founder says in the clip. “That certainly is not an opportunity that my generation or your mother's generation were afforded. We have just been raised to know that the value that is placed on your hair is also connected to the value that people hold for you. And that's unfortunate...”

Along with this powerful snippet, the Girlfriends actress also included a selfie that she and Winfrey snapped while on the set of The Hair Tales (and we can tell because they're wearing the exact same outfits as in the video).

Fans loved seeing this special birthday post from Ross, like one user who commented, “Legendary queens! HBD Oprah.” Another follower wrote, “Two amazing ladies.”

In addition to producing their limited docuseries together, the two have remained friends over the years. For instance, back in 2020 (pre-pandemic, of course), Winfrey hosted the 2020 Vision: Your Life in Focus Tour, where Ross was one of the invited guests during a stop in Dallas.
