Ryan Reynolds Tells His Daughters He’s Spider-Man for This Totally Relatable Reason

Most parents will tell you raising children is a smidge easier with the help of little white lies. Ryan Reynolds tends to agree.

As a parent of two (almost three!) children, Inez (2) and James (4), and the star of the raunchiest superhero franchise out there, Deadpool, Reynolds is forced to bend the truth a little bit when it comes to explaining what daddy does at work. So much so that the 42-year-old actor tells his girls he’s in another movie entirely.

The truth surfaced when a mother reached out to Reynolds via Twitter and asked him if he thinks it’s a good idea for her to show Deadpool to her 4-year-old son.

“@VancityReynolds RYAN I HAVE AN IMPORTANT QUESTION I NEED AN ANSWER TO RIGHT TF NOW!!!” Twitter user @Jediminndtrick wrote. “My son is 4, he loves Marvel, I'm dying to show him Deadpool but I can't decide if I should or not. Helpasistahout !!!!!!!!”

Reynolds advised against it and instead offered up a simple bait and switch solution that he uses on his own children.

“No. Put on Spider-Man (from 2002) and tell him it's Deadpool. It’s what I do with my kids,” Reynolds tweeted back. “Remember to look him straight in the eye when you lie. Good luck.” The last part is key.

As you may remember, the 2002 Spider-Man starred Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst and was actually pretty good.

Ah, the joys of parenting.
