Blake Lively Just Gave Ryan Reynolds the ‘Greatest Present’ He’s Ever Received

When it comes to birthdays, Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds go all out. For Lively’s 30th, she had a (rather belated) sweet 16. For Reynold’s 41st, his wife trolled him with Ryan Gosling. And even though Reynolds’s birthday isn’t until late October, Lively already gave him a gift that makes her a frontrunner for wife of the year.

Reynolds, 42, revealed on Instagram that his 31-year-old pregnant wife of nearly seven years just gifted him with a custom painting from artist Danny Galieote that presents a meaningful homage to his childhood. The Deadpool actor shared a slideshow that included a pic of himself posing with the painting that now hangs in their home.

As you’ll notice, the art depicts a young boy delivering newspapers with his trusty sidekick, a cute pooch. But it’s not just any boy, it’s a young Ryan Reynolds.

Adult Ryan Reynolds explained the meaningful gift in his caption, writing, “My first job was delivering newspapers for the Vancouver Sun. The house in the painting is my childhood home. My brothers and I spent years trying to kill each other on that lawn.” Siblings: Can’t live with them, can’t live without them.

He went on to explain that there’s much more to the painting than meets the eye and offered close-up photos as evidence. “There are a lot of Easter eggs in the painting, including my idol, John Candy on the front page of the newspaper,” he wrote. “The house no longer stands but it’s a living, breathing thing in my head.”

Expectedly, Reynolds was blown away by the thoughtfulness of the gift and shared, “This piece of art is the greatest present my wife has ever given me. It was created by @dannygalieote. If there’s ever a fire, I’m grabbing this first. I’ll come back for Blake.”

Priorities.
