It’s supposed to look that way

Quinta Brunson’s stylist, Jessica Paster, is addressing criticism about the actress’s “wrinkled” dress at the Emmy Awards

Last night, the Abbott Elementary star, 34, attended the 75th annual ceremony at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles. Brunson walked the red gray carpet in a pink Dior gown that stood out against the distracting background. Although the dress was made with crushed satin, some viewers thought it looked wrinkled and messy.

At-home critics shared their thoughts on an Instagram post. One person wrote, “I’m sorry but this is a huge miss. Love her and her stylist but rumpled fabric on the red carpet will never read anything other than a mess.” Another added, “Just because it’s DIOR does not make it GOOD or flattering. It’s a very average dress that no matter how many times people say it’s supposed to be wrinkled. … looks sad and just not good!”

This prompted Paster to address the criticism, which she totally saw coming. “Guys guys guys…it's crushed satin…I knew you were gonna say something!!” the stylist wrote on the post. “It’s beautiful silloette [sic] on her and fabric…and the color is gorgeous on her.”

Paster wasn’t the only person who loved the dress, regardless of the fabric. On the red carpet, Brunson gushed over her Dior look, saying, "I really love it. I don’t know. I like to go old-school glam sometimes. And when I saw this, it just made me feel very ‘50s. Very just—‘All right, classy. Supposed to be here—gonna be here for a while.’”

We’re with you, Quinta.
