1. She still feels her dad’s presence

Chopra revealed that her favorite moment from her epic two-day wedding was when her mom, Madhu, walked her down the aisle, in place of her late father, Ashok. “My mom walking me down the aisle was a really big moment,” she told Winfrey. “I extended my hand for my mom to come, and I felt my dad’s presence in such a big way in that moment.”

2. She learned to stand up for herself

Chopra admitted that she regrets not standing up to an unnamed director, who asked her to perform a provocative dance. “I was so scared,” she recalled. “I was new in the entertainment business and girls are always told that ‘you don’t want to get a reputation of being hard to work with.’ So, I worked within the system.”

The actress has since learned to value her self-worth over everything else. “I was told to have an opinion in a room that disagreed with me,” Chopra added. “I was always encouraged to have a voice.”

3. She credits her mom for Nick Jonas

The Quantico alum admitted that she didn’t think her relationship with Jonas was all that serious in the beginning. However, she credited her mom with sealing the deal. “I truly believe that my mom manifested him,” she explained.

Chopra continued to gush over her husband, adding, “Nothing surprised me more than him. He’s such a self-assured man. So sensible. So excited about my achievements. My dreams. [It’s] such a true partnership that he offers me in everything that we do together.”

4. She was a victim of bullying

While discussing her childhood, Chopra explained that she was bullied due to her skin color. “High school is hard anyway. And to become of age, to understand your body as a woman, to be devalued for something I can’t change, I was profoundly affected by it,” she said.

5. She wants to set an example

Chopra revealed that her parents set a commendable example for her and her brother, Siddharth. “I would implore parents to cherish their children, tell them how important their views are, not to burden them with their dreams, but to let your children have your own dreams,” she continued.
