How surprising

In case you missed it, Princess Charlotte made a surprise appearance at the UEFA Women's EURO 2025 Final on Sunday, July 27, joining her dad, Prince William, to cheer on England’s women’s soccer team, the Lionesses, as they faced off against Spain. Not only did she show up unexpectedly (a royal cameo and a major game? Yes, please) but she also sported a sweet dress that nodded to her mom, Princess Catherine.

But while most people were focused on the surprise factor and Charlotte’s cute outfit, one little detail flew under the radar: this marked Princess Charlotte’s first-ever overseas football match. Yup—another royal milestone checked off the list.

As royal watchers know, the Wales family is big on soccer. Charlotte, along with her brothers Prince George and Prince Louis, have all been spotted supporting their favorite teams over the years. And they didn’t just inherit the enthusiasm—both William and Kate are longtime soccer fans themselves.

In fact, earlier this year in May, Prince William shared a fun tidbit about Louis while visiting a youth soccer event in Scotland. Apparently, Louis has more than a few favorite football teams. “My youngest at the moment says he supports five different football teams,” he joked.

Meanwhile, Prince William and George enjoyed some quality father-son bonding in April when they flew to Paris to watch Aston Villa (William’s favorite team) take on Paris Saint-Germain.

This isn’t the first time Charlotte has publicly supported the Lionesses, either. She and William filmed a sweet good-luck video for the team ahead of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup final.

“We’re so proud of everything you’ve achieved,” William said, before Charlotte added, “Good luck. I hope you win!”

We love a sporty royal family moment.
