Kate Middleton & Prince William Just Unveiled a Gorgeous New Photo of Princess Charlotte

Kate Middleton and Prince William have been giving us a trove of family pictures on their Instagram recently. Just a couple weeks ago, the couple shared a portrait—taken by the Duchess of Cambridge herself—that showed Prince George cheesing prior to his 8th birthday.

Now, the couple is treating us to another snap of one of their kids. This time around, royal followers were given a gorgeous shot of Princess Charlotte (6), who is seen sporting a blue and pink outfit while looking down at a red admiral butterfly in her hands (and we can't get over how grown up she looks).

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge know how to get our attention, and the image was shared in order to shed light on an initiative happening across the U.K. This movement was explained in the caption, where they said, “We wanted to share these beautiful Peacock and Red Admiral butterflies as part of Big #ButterflyCount initiative taking place across the UK.”

They further explained, “@savebutterflies are encouraging us all to count these incredible creatures because not only are they beautiful creatures to be around but they are also extremely important. Butterflies are vital parts of the ecosystem as both pollinators and components of the food chain.”

Each year, the charity Butterfly Conservation holds their Big Butterfly Count, and the royal couple wanted to bring attention to the initiative as it reaches its final weekend. They closed by saying, “Hopefully you can beat last year's total, @savebutterflies.”

This snap of Princess Charlotte is a welcome surprise, given that the last time we got a glimpse of the royal was back in May, when she was celebrating her 6th birthday. The princess was seen smiling in a blue floral dress in a photo taken by Middleton, of course.
