On October 15, 2018, royal fans were thrilled to hear that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were expecting their first child. However, there was one small detail about the announcement that put fans in a tizzy.

If you recall, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex made the big announcement three days after Princess Eugenie tied the knot with Jack Brooksbank at Windsor Castle. But Prince Harry confirmed in his memoir, Spare, that even before they went public, he and his wife shared the pregnancy news with the royal family...on Princess Eugenie's wedding day.

Per People, the prince wrote that they were "deliriously happy" for the newlyweds, but they also seized the opportunity to "pull aside family members one by one and tell them our good news."

While it's generally considered impolite to share news that could potentially upstage the bride's big day, it appears the royal family took the announcement in stride. In fact, they were thrilled to have more good news to celebrate.

Prince Harry added, "At Windsor, just before a drinks reception for the bride and groom, we cornered Pa [King Charles] in his study. He was sitting behind his big desk, which afforded his favorite view, straight down the Long Walk… He was delighted to learn that he was going to be a grandfather for a fourth time; his wide smile warmed me."

The royal also detailed how they broke the news to Prince William and Princess Catherine. He said, "After the drinks reception, in St. George's Hall, Meg and I pulled Willy aside. We were in a big room, suits of armor on the walls. Strange room, strange moment. We whispered the news, and Willy smiled and said we must tell Kate. She was across the room, talking to [her sister] Pippa. I said we could do it later, but he insisted. So we went and told Kate, and she also gave a big smile and hearty congratulations. They both reacted exactly as I'd hoped—as I'd wished."

Seven months later, the royal couple welcomed their first child, Archie, and released a statement on Instagram that reads, "We are pleased to announce that Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their firstborn child in the early morning on May 6th, 2019. The Duchess and baby are both healthy and well, and the couple thank members of the public for their shared excitement and support during this very special time in their lives."

Since then, the happy couple also welcomed their daughter, Lilibet, who is now two years old.

Good to know that the royals are always up for some good news, regardless of the occasion.
