The couple shared the exciting news on their Archewell foundation website, saying, “It is with great joy that Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, welcome their daughter, Lilibet “Lili” Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, to the world...This is the second child for the couple, who also have a two-year-old son named Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. The Duke and Duchess thank you for your warm wishes and prayers as they enjoy this special time as a family.”
While the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are enjoying time with the newest member of their family, they also wanted to celebrate the occasion by giving back. Instead of asking for gifts, they are requesting that people contribute to organizations dedicated to helping women.
The end of the birth announcement said: “For those inquiring on sending gifts, we would ask that you support or learn more about these organizations working for women and girls: Girls Inc., Harvest Home, CAMFED or Myna Mahila Foundation. While the Duke and Duchess are on parental leave, Archewell will continue to do important work and publish stories on the site. We look forward to seeing you!”
The organizations listed are all dedicated to helping women across the world, whether it's aiding pregnant women who are homeless, or raising money for better educational opportunities for women.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle launched Archewell after stepping down from their royal positions. The non-profit was developed in an effort to “uplift and unite communities—local and global, online and offline—one act of compassion at a time.” Throughout the past year, Archewell teamed up with the World Center Kitchen to help provide meals to those affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
We love seeing the couple continue to help others in the name of their new daughter.
