Prince George Just Received a Major Birthday Surprise Courtesy of Gan-Gan Queen Elizabeth

When it comes to her great-grandchildren, it seems Queen Elizabeth’s motto is: “Go big, or go home.”

Today, the royal family shared a video on their official Instagram account in honor of Prince George’s ninth birthday. The clip featured the Band of the Irish Guards playing “Happy Birthday” on the grounds of Buckingham Palace.

“Happy Birthday Prince George!” the caption read. “This morning on the forecourt of Buckingham Palace the Band of the Irish Guards performed ‘Happy Birthday’ for HRH Prince George, to the delight of the crowds who’d gathered to watch the Changing of the Guards ceremony.”

This must have been an exciting moment for Prince George to receive this surprise courtesy of his Gan-Gan (AKA the queen). If there was one person who enjoyed it more, it was probably George’s brother, Prince Louis. (FYI, Kate Middleton previously revealed that “Happy Birthday” is “one of Louis’s favorite songs.”)

Prince George’s birthday tribute came just a few hours after Prince William and Middleton released a brand-new portrait on social media.

The photo featured the young royal standing on a beach and smiling for the camera in a light blue collared shirt. The pic was reportedly captured by Middleton, who moonlights as an amateur photographer in her spare time. (She even photographed Camilla Parker Bowles.)

What a thoughtful surprise.
