There’s a Hidden Meaning Behind Meghan Markle’s Emerald Necklace

Meghan Markle has added another item to her growing jewelry collection. But this particular piece holds a special meaning to the 41-year-old mother of two.

This week, the Duchess of Sussex was spotted on a shopping spree in Montecito with a friend. (Perhaps she was looking for holiday gifts?) As Hello! magazine points out, the royal was wearing a necklace that paid tribute to her 3-year-old son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.

During the outing (see the photo here), Markle was wearing the Baby Queen Water Drop Emerald Solitude Necklace by Logan Hollowell, which retails for the whopping price of $3,450. The accessory features a pear-shaped Zambian emerald that’s framed in an ornate gold halo. While Markle has the 14k gold version, it also comes in white gold and rose gold.

The necklace is a subtle nod to Archie because he was born in May—therefore, his birthstone is an emerald.

According to the official Logan Hollowell website, the stone “enhances harmony, joy, memory and faith.” The emerald is also “said to bring both passion and unconditional love, bringing balance within relationships, as well as friendship.”

This isn’t the first time Markle has paid tribute to her family with her jewelry. Last year, the duchess was seen with two layered astrology necklaces: one represented Taurus (for Archie), and the other represented Gemini (for Lilibet).
