The ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Reunion We’ve Been Waiting for Has Finally Arrived

*Warning: Spoilers ahead*

We already knew that Lexie Grey (Chyler Leigh) was returning to Grey’s Anatomy, thanks to last week’s teaser. However, we never expected the beloved character to be joined by another familiar face: Mark “McSteamy” Sloan (Eric Dane).

During last night’s episode of Grey’s Anatomy, Lexie and McSteamy returned from the dead to greet Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) on her dreamy beach. The pair offered guidance to Meredith, who’s currently battling COVID-19.

“Are you here to stay?” Lexie says. To which Meredith responds, “I don’t know. I don’t know the rules.”

“I don’t think there are any rules, which is—well, it takes some getting used to,” Lexie continues. “I was big on rules. I actually think I loved rules.”

Right on cue, Dr. Sloan appears out of nowhere and says, “You totally did.”

This is a huge deal for Grey’s Anatomy fans, since Lexie and Mark tragically passed away as a result of the (spoiler alert!) season eight plane crash. Still, we’re not totally surprised by the appearances, since they’re not the first.

Although the doctors are trying to wake Meredith up from her coma, she keeps running into late friends and family members—like Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey), George O’Malley (T.R. Knight) and Andrew DeLuca (Giacomo Gianniotti)—on the beach, which delays the process.

We’re admittedly thrilled about the surprise cameos, but they (unfortunately) might be coming to an end. Since last night’s episode teased that Meredith is finally waking up, it also means the beach will no longer exist.

Perhaps Grey’s Anatomy will bless us with one more reunion? *Crosses fingers*
