Today is a big day for the royal family—but no, it’s not a wedding, a royal tour or a surprise baby announcement. It’s Princess Charlotte’s birthday.

The only daughter of Prince William and Kate Middleton just turned ten years old on May 2, and of course, the royal family is marking the occasion in style. Kensington Palace kicked off the celebration by posting an adorable new photo of Charlotte to Instagram. In the snapshot, the young royal is dressed in a camo outfit while out on a hike, flashing a big smile. But it wasn’t just her parents giving her a birthday shoutout—King Charles also made sure his granddaughter felt the love.

Over on Instagram Stories, Buckingham Palace reposted the photo of Charlotte and added their own sweet birthday message: “Happy Birthday to Princess Charlotte!” They even included a birthday cake and party emojis.

Charlotte’s birthday comes shortly after her younger brother, Prince Louis, celebrated his. The youngest of the Wales children turned seven on April 23 and, true to tradition, a new portrait and video were released in his honor. But there was a subtle shift this year—while Charlotte’s birthday photo was taken by her mom (as usual), Louis’s was captured by a professional photographer, breaking from the tradition of Kate snapping her kids’ birthday pics herself.

One thing both portraits had in common? Nature. Princess Charlotte’s photo was taken during a hike and Louis’s birthday video was filmed outdoors too. It’s no secret that the Prince and Princess of Wales are big advocates for spending time in nature—and it looks like their kids are following in their footsteps.

Just last month, Kate released two surprise videos supporting the Scouts, both showing her immersed in the great outdoors. Plus, during her and William’s recent visit to Scotland, the couple highlighted environmental conservation efforts.

Looks like the royal kids are growing up with a strong love for nature—and some seriously photogenic birthday moments, too.
