It’s been more than a month since Kevin Costner won the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Television Series (Drama) for playing John Dutton on Yellowstone. And now, the 68-year-old actor has finally received the award.
Last week, Costner posted an unboxing video on Instagram, featuring himself accepting the statuette before giving a heartfelt speech about the achievement.
In the video (see above), Costner revealed that he was unable to attend the Golden Globes due to flooding in California. “We felt so horrible about that, and there was just nothing we could do,” he said.
Costner was bummed because he “wanted to be there,” but he knew the odds were stacked against him. So, his wife went to the store and bought balloons to decorate the house, and they watched the awards show at home with their children. He continued, “We found ourselves together as a family and my children heard my name called, and they stood up and they cheered.”
Costner also shared his gratitude for receiving the award, adding, “It feels really good to have this. There’s no substitute for being there, but my wife made a night of it for us…I’m so glad I found the movies in my life. I don’t know what would’ve happened to me if I hadn’t found the movies.”
Rumors have been circulating about the future of Yellowstone season 5. According to reports, series creator Taylor Sheridan may end the show due to schedule conflicts. If true, the Yellowstone universe might expand to include another spin-off starring Matthew McConaughey.
In the meantime, we hope Costner enjoys his belated celebration. *Tips cowboy hat*
