Kerry Washington Wore Her Custom Gown in the Pool After the SAG Awards

Kerry Washington just proved that there’s no such thing as a wrong time to channel your inner mermaid.

Last night, the Little Fires Everywhere star, 44, virtually attended the 2021 SAG Awards. Washington wore a gorgeous custom gown by Etro, which gave off such strong mermaid vibes that she took it for a dip in her pool after the ceremony. (No, really.)

Washington shared a series of pics on Instagram from her backyard photo shoot. The first post shows the actress standing at the edge of the pool, while she shows off her purple embellished gown.

The second post features not one, not two, but three close-up shots, which highlight her spot-on accessories.

For the grand finale, Washington posted several pictures of herself swimming in her pool while wearing the dress.

One of the captions read, “Grateful to the #SAGAwards for giving me a reason to get dressed up. You gotta ditch the sweats when you’re surrounded by all the BEAUTY & BRILLIANCE in this category.”

Washington was nominated for the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Miniseries or Television Movie. Although Anya Taylor-Joy (The Queen’s Gambit) won the statuette, other nominees included Cate Blanchett (Mrs. America), Nicole Kidman (The Undoing) and Michaela Coel (I May Destroy You).

The real question is: Was Washington’s swim planned or was it a last-minute decision? Either way, we totally approve.
