Kerry Washington is getting candid about her relationship with her mother while sharing brand-new snaps of her on Instagram.
To announce her new jewelry collection, the Little Fires Everywhere star, 44, posted a rare slideshow on her personal Instagram revealing that her mom, Valerie, was the inspiration behind the new pieces. The post consisted of two photos of the mother-daughter duo rocking stunning shell necklaces and earrings while posing on the beach.
“Motherhood, in all its forms,” she captioned the images. “That was the inspiration behind my next collection with @auratenewyork. MOTHERHOOD. And it means the world to me that I get to share this with my beautiful mother. She’s the bravest and strongest woman I know. She inspires me every single day to be a better daughter and a better mother—to my kids, my companies, my ideas, my dreams and even my inner self. Whether it is your birth child, your inner child, your biological mother, or your chosen mothers, there is beauty and complexity within this bond and we wanted this collection to be a celebration of all that.”
Fans immediately flooded the comments section with praise for the rare photos. One person wrote, “Wow, you are both stunning. This is perfection truly. [heart emoji].” Another added, “I see where you get your beauty from.” Our thoughts exactly.
This isn’t the first time Washington has posted photos of her lookalike mom. In February, the actress shared a handful of throwback photos featuring three generations of women in her family—herself, Valerie and her two grandmothers.
