Kerry Washington is throwing it back for her birthday.
On Instagram, the actress celebrated her 44th year by sharing one of her favorite childhood memories, which appears to be a snap from her 14th birthday party. In the caption, she wrote, "Birthday throwback. Sending you ALL love and deep gratitude today for all these beautiful birthday wishes. I feel so loved and blessed to get to spend another year with you all. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MEEE!!!!"
In the pic, a much younger Washington is seen with a white hair-band and blue knit cardigan as she blows out the candles on one of her birthday cakes. Countless fans and celebrities lit up the comments to wish her the happiest of birthdays, from Mariah Carey and Tracee Ellis Ross to Insecure's Issa Rae, who wrote, "Love you, Kerry! Happy Birthdayyyyyy!"
Some of Washington's famous friends also marked the occasion by sharing their own throwback pics and touching tributes. For instance, her Little Fires Everywhere co-star and BFF, Reese Witherspoon, shared a behind-the-scenes snap and wrote, "Happy birthday to my amazing friend @kerrywashington!! You are a brilliant, creative, passionate force of nature and I am constantly inspired by your grace. Not to mention your incredible sense of style...AM I RIGHT?! Sending you love, my sister / my partner / my friend forever!"
How to Get Away With Murder's Viola Davis also shared a celebratory post and said, "Happiest of Happy birthday to Ms. @KerryWashington!! Washington's festive photo comes just a few weeks after she celebrated her mom Valerie's birthday. The actress posted a rare snap of herself and her lookalike mom and wrote, "Today is a very special day. It’s the day that the fiercest lioness in my pride was born. My OG! The goddess of grace. Today is my mom’s birthday!!!!!! Help me send her some birthday loooooooove.”
