Kerry Washington Posts Rare Family Photo—& Her Grandparents Look So Much Like Her

For the past several months, Kerry Washington has been keeping us all entertained with her father Earl Washington's infamous #dadjokes. And now, she's taking things up a notch by offering a rare glimpse into his childhood.

The Little Fires Everywhere star honored her dad by posting a throwback pic of Earl and his sister as kids. Their parents (and Kerry's grandparents) can also be seen posing in the snap. Kerry wrote, "Throwing it back to Brooklyn circa 1950 with some more of #MyBlackHistory. This is my dad with his sister, my aunt Claudell, and his parents, my grandparents, Samuel and Lorraine (aka LT Nanny). How amazing is this photo? And how adorable is Earl?!? That smile could light up a room!"

Kerry continued, "My dad has always been the life of the party. You’ve seen the #dadjokes. Humor and charm are his superpowers. Even when life wasn’t easy, or maybe especially in those challenging times, his ability to find joy and bring laughter into any situation is a gift to our family. One that will last for generations. I loooooooove seeing and hearing about your #BlackHistory and the #MomentsofBlackJoy that brighten your day. Keep sharing and keep spreading the LOVE."

In the family pic, Kerry's father, grandfather and aunt surround her grandmother, who is seen striking an elegant pose in her chair. While we're definitely impressed by this gorgeous snap, we can't ignore the striking resemblance between Kerry and her grandfather. One commenter said, "You have your grandfather’s eyes! Great pic." Another chimed in, "Wow.. you look like your grandfather too!!"

The throwback pic comes a few days after Kerry treated fans to another installment of #dadjokes for President's Day—except this time, there was a special appearance by Tony Goldwyn (AKA President Fitz from Scandal). In the IG video, Earl asks Goldwyn, "What is Michelle Obama's fave vegetable?" And after a moment, he says, "Barack-oli." So clever!
