Here’s What Kate Middleton & Prince William’s Abandoned @KensingtonRoyal Instagram Account Looks Like Now

Kate Middleton and Prince William may have a new Instagram handle, but we still have questions about the old one.

Earlier this month, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge announced that they have officially launched a joint YouTube channel. The couple shared the news in a video collage on IG. “Better late than never—we're now on @YouTube Link in bio,” the duo captioned the post.

A few days later, we noticed that Middleton and William made a tiny change to their shared Instagram account. In the morning, the IG profile was still named @kensingtonroyal. However, by the afternoon, the handle had been changed to @dukeandduchessofcambridge. While we don’t know for sure, we’re assuming the reason for this change was to create uniformity between this account and their new YouTube channel.

Two weeks later, we became curious about the fate of the old @kensingtonroyal handle. Does it still exist? The short answer: Yes. There is a @kensingtonroyal account, however, it has been wiped clean.

The page currently only has one post (which we can’t see because the account is private). In addition, the page has no followers and is not following any other accounts. The bio reads, “Visit @DukeandDuchessofCambridge for official account,” while the profile picture states, “Official account @dukeandduchessofcambridge.”

As we mentioned earlier, the change came when the duo launched their new YouTube channel. According to the stats, the account was created on October 7, 2020 and already has over 26 thousand subscribers. (No word on why the account hasn’t been used until now.)

It was nice knowing you, @kensingtonroyal.
