In the caption, the Duchess of Cambridge writes: "This year Mother’s Day will be different once again. Many of us will be apart from our loved ones, but looking forward to a time in the not too distant future when we can give our mother a hug again. But for those experiencing bereavement, today may be particularly challenging. Each year on Mother’s Day, George, Charlotte and Louis make cards remembering their Granny, Diana, for William. Whatever your circumstances, we are thinking of you this Mother’s Day."
The homemade cards feature giant, rainbow hearts and sunny mountainsides, along with stickers of dancing ballerinas and friendly forest creatures. Prince George wrote on his card, "I love you very much and think of you always." Princess Charlotte's message to Granny Diana said, "I love you very much. Papa is missing you."
The Mother's Day celebration comes only a few months before the late Diana Spencer, Princess of Wales would have turned sixty years old this July 1. In celebration of their mother, Prince William and Prince Harry commissioned a memorial statue in her honor, which will be unveiled at the Kensington Gardens this summer. Leading up to the event, we have been treated to some rare photos and videos of the Princess of Wales, like a behind-the-scenes video, where she let a young Prince William apply some makeup for her at a photoshoot.
Don't mind us as we go call our mother to tell her we love her.
