Talk about iconic

When it comes to red carpet events, yes, I’m excited to see celebs do their thing, but let’s be completely honest, I’m really here for the fashion. Whether it’s a sentimental nod, a bold statement or just a look that makes you immediately Google “dupes under $50,” there’s always something worth talking about. And this week? It’s all about Keke Palmer.

The multi-hyphenate star turned heads at the Los Angeles premiere of her upcoming film The Pickup, serving a seriously unforgettable look—and one with some fashion history. Keke stepped out in a slinky, semi-sheer vintage Versace gown that shimmered under the lights. The silver number, made of iridescent knit fabric, featured a one-shoulder neckline, intricate beading and abstract black mesh cutouts for that perfect balance of glam and edge.

Accessorizing like a pro, she paired the gown with a teardrop diamond choker and oversized double-hoop earrings. Her glam? Chef’s kiss. A voluminous, curly high ponytail in fiery red added drama, while a smoky grey eye, cat-eye liner and glossy nude lip tied the whole look together.

Now, about that dress. This wasn’t just any old Versace moment. Keke was actually wearing a piece once worn by none other than supermodel Naomi Campbell at the 1996 Night of Stars. The main difference? Naomi’s original had an asymmetrical long sleeve, while Keke’s version featured a sheer mesh strap.

The Pickup, which drops August 6, is a heist action-comedy starring Keke, Eddie Murphy and Pete Davidson. When a routine cash run goes sideways, two mismatched armored truck drivers are thrown into chaos, forced to outwit criminals—and each other—on one wild, high-stakes day.

The film follows the success of Keke’s previous hit One of Them Days (which co-starred SZA and is already getting a sequel). But truthfully, whether it’s on screen or on the carpet, Keke Palmer never misses.
