It’s been years since Joanna Gaines picked up her pom-poms as a high school cheerleader, but that doesn’t mean she lost everything.
Yesterday, the Fixer Upper star, 40, shared a video on Instagram of her attempting a back walkover.
In the video, Gaines’s 8-year-old daughter, Emmie Kay, does a roundoff back handspring with the help of her coach.
Just then, the Fixer Upper star—who cheered in high school—appears from behind the camera and shows off her impressive gymnast skills with a back walkover. Sure, Gaines lands on her knees, but she gets a ten out of ten in our book.
She captioned the post, “When you think you still got it…but you don’t.”
After sharing the post, Gaines received praise from two former Olympians. Mary Lou Retton, who won five medals at the 1984 games, left a comment on her post, writing, “I’m impressed lady.”
Shawn Johnson, who took home two medals in 2018, also chimed in, saying, “Hahaha greatest video ever.”
Gaines rose to stardom thanks to her HGTV show, Fixer Upper, which she shares with her husband, Chip. In addition to Emmie Kay, the couple are parents to four other children: Drake (14), Ella (13), Duke (13) and baby Crew (9 months).
Practice makes perfect.
