Dolly Parton Will Reunite with Former ‘9 to 5’ Co-Stars Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin on ‘Grace and Frankie’

This will surely be the reunion of a lifetime.

Netflix just announced that Dolly Parton will guest star on the seventh and final season of Grace and Frankie. The comedy series, which stars Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin, will close with twelve episodes that will be released in 2022. And while fans have been anxiously awaiting these final installments, it looks like they have even more to look forward to.

The last time that Parton, Fonda and Tomlin worked together was over forty years ago, when the trio starred in the 1980 comedy film 9 to 5. So naturally, throughout the run of Grace and Frankie, fans have been anxious to see if Parton would make an appearance. The news was shared in a tweet from Netflix that said, “It's finally happening: Dolly Parton will appear in the seventh and final season of Grace and Frankie!!!”

The announcement was made along with a photo of the three entertainers from when they reunited on the Emmys stage back in 2017. During this appearance, Parton made a comment saying, “Personally, I have been waiting for a '9 to 5' reunion ever since we did the first one.”

And while the drafts for a 9 to 5 sequel were scrapped, there has been talk of Parton appearing on Grace and Frankie for quite some time. Back in January, Tomlin was asked on Today if Parton would be guest-starring on the series, to which Tomlin responded, “Well, we’re always hoping that will happen. We’ve got a great role for her this time. I think she will do it. I’m just hoping she will. And we hope she can do it and we think she can do it by remote.”

We will be keeping our eyes out for this one.
