Chloé Zhao Wore Sneakers on the Red Carpet & We're Totally Digging the Look
Not too many people can pull off super casual looks on the red carpet—but Chloé Zhao sure can.
Zhao, who is one of two women nominated this year for Best Director for Nomadland, appeared on the Oscars red carpet and proved that it's possible to look just as fab without heels and a full face of makeup.
The 39-year-old, who is make-up free, sports two gorgeous French braids, pairing her white trainers with a stylish beige gown. But of course, Zhao isn't the first to flaunt this look. In 2019, Tina Fey sported $50 Chuck Taylors with her metallic gown at the Oscars After Party, and Frances McDormand wore Birkenstocks with her red dress.
The history-making filmmaker has been on a roll with recent wins. She made history as the first woman of Asian descent to ever win a Golden Globe for Best Director. And at the 74th annual BAFTA Awards, the Nomadland filmmaker won the award for Best Director. Additionally, Zhao became the first woman of color to win the award for outstanding directorial achievement at the 2021 Directors Guild of America Awards.
Fingers crossed that the director will get another win tonight!
