Princess Diana’s Brother Charles Spencer Just Discovered a Rare Childhood Photo of Their Grandfather—and He Shared it on Social Media

Several weeks ago, Charles Spencer (aka Princess Diana’s younger brother) posted an old childhood photo of their late father, John Spencer, on Instagram. (FYI, royal fans quickly pointed out the striking resemblance between the former military officer and his great-grandson, Prince George). And now, the 9th Earl Spencer has discovered a new family photo hidden inside the Spencer archives and shared it on social media.

Earlier this week, Charles, 59, posted a grainy black-and-white snap of their late grandfather, Jack, and his eldest sister, Delia. In the photo, which was posted on his personal IG account, a much younger Jack stands under a wooden sign that reads, “To Nobottle Brington” and “To Duston Northampton.”

Jack appears to be wearing an oversized suit jacket with matching trousers, a white shirt and a tie. Sitting beside him is his older sister Delia, who is wearing a similar black uniform with stockings and boots. 

In the caption, Charles shared some BTS deets about the snapped photo. “Just discovered - this photograph, taken by my great-grandmother Margaret Spencer in c.1900, of my grandfather Jack, and his eldest sister Delia,” the British author wrote in the caption. 

He continued, “A lovely family moment, in late Victorian England. They are photographed at a spot I know well, near Althorp. I wonder what Aunt Delia has on her lap…? #1900 #blackandwhitephotography #brotherandsister #spencerfamily #motherslove #summersday #familyouting #grandfather.”

This is certainly not the first time Charles has posted a throwback photo of Grandpa Jack on social media. Back in December 2023, the history aficionado posted a black-and-white photo of his grandad posing with his military buddies on IG.
