Chad Michael Murray Finally Appeared on ‘Riverdale’—Here’s What It All Means

From the poorly timed lip-syncing to the questionable musical numbers, we have a lot to say about last night’s episode of Riverdale. But we can’t stop thinking about the ending, which featured a highly anticipated cameo by none other than Chad Michael Murray.

The 37-year-old actor made his debut in this week’s installment, and while his appearance only lasted a few seconds, it raised many questions about what’s to come for the Riverdale teens.

Here’s what you need to know: The episode, titled “BIG FUN,” concluded with the opening night of Heathers: The Musical. When the play ended, Evelyn’s (Zoé De Grand Maison) dad, Edgar Evernever (Murray), rose to his feet and began ominously clapping while the rest of The Farm joined in.

So, what does it all mean? Unfortunately, it doesn’t look good for Betty (Lili Reinhart), who has been opposed to The Farm ever since her mom, Alice (Mädchen Amick), seemingly died and then came back to life in Chapter Forty-Eight.

Although Murray’s cameo didn’t last long, it did confirm that Edgar’s recruited far more people into the cult than we originally thought. Gulp.

Apart from that scene, we don’t know much about Murray’s character. Nevertheless, the actor recently discussed the series in an interview with Cosmopolitan, saying, “Edgar is a unique character. I think there are so many layers to peel back, so it’s a very slow burn on really discovering who this man is, what his background is, and where he comes from.”

When asked about his character’s future on the show, he added, “It’s going to be a wild ride. Strap on your seatbelt.”

Welcome to Riverdale, Mr. Evernever. Riverdale returns to The CW next Wednesday, March 27, at 8 p.m.
