We just learned some new and unexpected details about baby Archie...he has (at least) three godparents!
Last year, it was revealed that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry didn't want to announce the names of their first-born child's godparents, hoping to maintain some semblance of privacy, away from the press.
However, over the weekend, The Sunday Times reported that Archie’s godparents are Tiggy Pettifer, Mark Dyer and Charlie van Straubenzee.
Pettifer was the nanny of both Prince William and Prince Harry and played a key role in bringing up the brothers after the death of their mother, Diana. Having been such an important person in Harry's life, it makes sense that the (former) duke would want her to oversee Archie, too.
Dyer also played a major role in both Harry and William’s upbringing. According to The Times, Dyer was “a former equerry to the Prince of Wales who became a mentor and close friend to Charles’ sons.”
Prince Harry's best friend, Charlie van Straubenzee, is the only other known godparent of eight-month-old Archie being reported by The Times. Harry also served as van Straubenzee’s best man at his wedding back in August of 2018.
Now, that’s one lucky baby.
