You might never stray from your beloved kale Caesar, but Sweetgreen is always bringing new menu items to the table that are worth considering. (For instance, ridiculously simple ripple fries, or Korean barbecue-inspired rice bowls, made in collaboration with COTE Korean Steakhouse.) The latest? Its Summer Seasonal Menu, featuring a returning fan-favorite salad, a much-requested bowl and a brand-new chicken dish.

PureWow’s VP of editorial, Candace Davison, tasted the lineup to bring you the following reviews and original photos. But first, read on for details on each item, so you know what to order when they launch nationwide on July 8. (P.S.: SG Rewards Members have early digital access on July 7.)

What’s on the Sweetgreen Summer Seasonal Menu?

The menu stars timely produce, sourced directly from trusted farms. Here are the details:

  • Chicken Caprese: new to the menu is this mix of roasted chicken, pesto pearl mozzarella cheese and vine-ripened cherry tomatoes on greens
  • Peach + Goat Cheese Salad: a revived fan-favorite dish made with juicy peaches tossed in olive oil and fresh basil, tangy goat cheese, toasted almonds and balsamic vinaigrette
  • Elote Bowl: brought back after much fan persuasion, this bowl includes roasted corn and peppers, olive oil-doused tomatoes, tangy goat cheese, crispy tortilla chips and lime cilantro jalapeño vinaigrette

Candace’s Sweetgreen Summer Seasonal Menu Reviews

If you’re into fruit or meatless salads, the Peach + Goat Cheese number is sure to satisfy. “Fresh basil really makes it sing,” Davison claims. “It’s just the herby note to offset the sweetness of the peaches and the tanginess of the balsamic and goat cheese. I didn’t miss the protein here.”

For char-kissed vibes that conjure memories of summer cookouts and days spent by the grill, the Elote pick won’t disappoint. “I can see why fans begged for this bowl’s return,” Davison says. “The roasted corn and peppers add a smoky touch, and I loved the acidity of the lime cilantro jalapeño vinaigrette.”

Finally, if you do prefer your salads topped with meat, seafood or poultry, the Chicken Caprese is just the ticket, mainly because of the quality of the produce. “Tomatoes can make or break a caprese,” Davison states. “We’ve all been burned by mealy tomatoes, and thankfully, Sweetgreen delivers with juicy, firm, flavorful produce. Each mozz ball is one-bite, and the pesto sauce brightens up the whole meal. Normally, I find caprese kind of boring, but here, it’s—dare I say it?—giving chicken Caesar a run for its girl-dinner money.”

The salads range in cost from $13.95 to $15.75 at Davison’s local NYC Sweetgreen, though prices may vary based on location.
