Happy sipping

If you’ve been to Starbucks in the last week, odds are the limited-time Firework Frappuccino caught your eye. A frozen spin on the Summer-Berry Refresher, it had a blue coconut milk base, layers of sweet-tart strawberry purée, raspberry-flavored pearls and vanilla sweet cream cold foam. While its run is nearly over, don’t fret: There are three more Frappuccinos hitting stores on July 8 for a limited time.

I’m a Former Starbucks Barista, and These Are the 30 Best Starbucks Drinks of All Time

Meet the Strato Frappuccino Blended Beverage collection, a trio of frosty sippers that are sure to help you beat the heat this summer (while supplies last, that is). They were created partially in celebration of the Frappuccino’s 30th birthday. Named after the Italian word for “layer,” these drinks combine a blended, icy Frappuccino base with silky cold foam. Here are details on all three varieties:

  • Brown Sugar Strato Frappuccino: a blend of Frappuccino Roast coffee, milk and ice, topped with brown sugar cream cold foam and cinnamon
  • Strawberry Matcha Strato Frappuccino: a blend of unsweetened matcha powder, Classic syrup, milk and ice, topped with strawberry cream cold foam
  • Salted Caramel Mocha Strato Frappuccino: a blend of Frappuccino Roast coffee, mocha sauce, milk and ice, topped with salted caramel cream cold foam and caramel drizzle

As a former Starbucks barista, I’m perhaps most psyched about the salted caramel mocha, considering it was a super popular fall drink in its heyday. Real ones will no doubt jump for joy over its return. However, I’m most interested in tasting the brown sugar iteration, as it’s comparatively simple and less sweet.

If you’re not a coffee drinker, the strawberry matcha pick won’t disappoint. I’m betting the juicy notes of the fruit complement the matcha’s earthiness like a charm. (Plus, its appearance is giving summer watermelon, and I’m here for it.)
