Lizzo Just Tried Those ‘Booty-Lifting’ TikTok Leggings—& Gave Her Honest Review

Lizzo is beloved on TikTok for her dance videos, music and funny commentaries alike, but her plant-based recipes just might be our favorite category. She shared the vegan cheese sauce recipe to her account with the caption “EAT UR FEELINGS WITH ME: cheezy takis edition.” The videos kicks off with her dousing a bowl of Takis in the dip while she says, “My kitchen dirty and I’m scared and anxious, but I made cheesy Takis.”

While the following how-to is a more of a guideline than a strict recipe, it still seems simple enough to partially wing on the spot in a taste-as-you-go sort of way. Instead of dairy, she uses Japanese yam and tofu as the base, along with some plant-based vegan cheese. She uses nutritional yeast to drive the cheese taste home, along with alliums and dry spices for flavor.

While Lizzo serves her vegan cheese sauce over Takis, you could also use it on vegetarian tacos, nachos, burritos, vegan cheesesteaks, veggie burgers and crudité platters. Read on to get cooking.

How to Make Lizzo’s Vegan Cheese Sauce

Ingredients

Step 1: Take a large pot and fill it halfway with water. Place the pot over high heat until the water begins to boil. Once it’s boiling, add the Japanese yam and cook until tender. Remove the yam and reserve about 1 cup of the water.

Step 2: Add the yam and the rest of the ingredients to a blender or food processor. Pulse until smooth, adding the reserved yam water one splash at a time until you achieve your desired consistency.
