And the best daughter award goes to...Lizzo! The 33-year-old star just surprised her mother with a whole new wardrobe for her birthday, and the video will have you reaching for a box of tissues.

Over the weekend, the “Good As Hell” singer shared a video on Instagram showcasing the moment she surprised her mom, Shari Johnson-Jefferson, with the special gift. In the footage, the mother-daughter duo is seen entering a closet while Lizzo asks, “Do you like these clothes?” As her mother looks around in awe, Lizzo continues, “These are your clothes.”

The remainder of the video features Shari modeling a few of her new pieces and sipping on some bubbly. “Ever since daddy passed, you’ve been telling me it’s been hard to dress nice for yourself,” Lizzo captioned the post. “I know I can’t bring ur best friend back… but I still wanna give you the world. Happy birthday mommy, I love you. Time to be FLYY, girl! Thank you @jasonrembert.”

The Grammy Award winner has been open about losing her dad when she was in college. Back in 2020, she told CBS This Morning, “I kind of really gave up. I was depressed. I didn't have a purpose—like I didn't feel like I had a purpose for being a musician or anything.”

This isn’t the first time the pop star has made a grand gesture for the woman who raised her. For Christmas last year, the musician surprised her mother with a brand-new Audi SUV.
