4. Toasted White Chocolate Latte

  • What It Is: espresso, toasted white chocolate syrup and milk, topped with whipped cream, caramel and cinnamon sugar
  • Price (small): $4

How do you make a white chocolate latte even cozier for the holidays? Give it a toasted finish, so there's a warming, comforting note—even if you're sipping it iced. I was a big fan of Starbucks's toasted white mocha from a few winters back, so I was excited for this one. Unfortunately, it didn’t hit quite as hard. I got some white chocolate notes at the front, but the finish was mostly milky, then a bit metallic. Maybe it was the espresso's bitterness and astringency playing off the cinnamon.

3. Peppermint Mocha Latte

  • What It Is: espresso with peppermint mocha flavor and milk, topped with whipped cream, mocha drizzle and cocoa powder
  • Price (small, hot): $4

If you love the classic chocolate-meets-candy-cane taste of a Peppermint Mocha, you're in luck: It's back at Dunkin' again this year. After tasting it both hot and cold, I wondered how the flavor of the iced version would compare in a smaller cup. The medium (which was still quite large) felt improperly balanced. The peppermint was very, very subtle, and the chocolate even more so. The latter was most detectable in the drink's borderline chalky finish.

The hot peppermint mocha, on the other hand, was definitely tastier and more comforting, like cocoa. But the duo of flavors still felt off, like drinking a sip of hot chocolate milk after brushing my teeth.

2. Cookie Butter Cloud Latte (new)

  • What It Is: espresso, with notes of sweet brown sugar and baked cookies, topped with cookie butter cold foam and crunchy cookie butter crumbles
  • Price (small): $5

The roasty, bitter espresso paired really well with the cinnamon-y, warm-spiced profile of the drink. Yes, it was sweet, but there was still a nice balance of earthiness. The crumbles on top tasted *exactly* like your favorite airplane cookies with their deeply caramelized brown sugar flavor. But the cold foam dissipated quickly, and the crumbs went soggy in minutes, so drink up if you order this one.

1. Berry Sangria Refresher (new)

  • What It Is: mixed berry-flavored refresher with a subtle wine-like finish, combined with your choice of tea, lemonade or sparkling water
  • Price (small): $4

This was freakin’ delicious. I had mine with green tea (because caffeine) and anticipated a candy-like taste, sort of like the Strawberry Dragon Fruit Refresher, but I was surprised by this one's juicy, sweet-tart flavor. I got notes of blackberry, raspberry and blueberry, and the flavor was very round and robust, similar to straight-up juice. This was downright chuggable, and kind of reminded me of cranberry mocktails that one would serve for Christmas or New Year’s Eve.

3. Bacon Jam Grilled Cheese

  • What It Is: white cheddar cheese, American cheese, bacon jam and bacon on sourdough bread
  • Price: $5

There were solid components here, like the sweet-and-savory jam and the smoky bacon strips. The cheese unfortunately congealed rather quickly, so there was no melty element to bite into—and no pull. The bread was the real killer though, as it was tough to bite at the edges and basically untoasted everywhere else; it took away from it feeling like a true grilled cheese.

2. Ultimate Bacon Jam Breakfast Sandwich

  • What It Is: fried egg, bacon white cheddar cheese and bacon jam on a bread of your choice
  • Price: $5

The cheese was similarly congealed here, but I surprisingly liked this handheld better than the grilled cheese (even though I’m not wild about Dunkin’s breakfast sandwiches in general). The bacon jam’s sweetness was curbed just right by the egg and buttery croissant, resulting in a better balance of sweet and salty. This was certainly indulgent and rich, but I wish the cheese had remained melty and stretchy.

1. Raspberry Striped Croissant

  • What It Is: all-butter croissant with raspberry stripes and raspberry filling
  • Price: $3

The croissant was a far cry from a real-deal croissant. That said, it still tasted very buttery and had a cushy, soft interior, enrobed in a crisp, flaky outside. The raspberry filling was sticky and thick—not runny, which made it less messy than anticipated. It leaned sweet, but I wished it had more of a sour kick. (I wouldn’t have minded more filling, either.)
