What Are the Fashion Trends for Winter 2023?
Before stocking up on a whole new winter wardrobe (or even just a few pieces), it’s important to take stock of what you actually need. “I think the pendulum is going to swing in the opposite direction of the micro-trend era [we've been seeing] to more well-tailored classics and smarter maximalism,” says Vanessa Powell, a bicoastal fashion stylist and editor. “I love the idea of a growing capsule wardrobe that can be mixed and matched in many different ways.”
But 2023's staples will be far from boring. Now that we're over the worst part of the COVID-19 pandemic, Powell says that when it comes to style, “designer creativity feels exciting and limitless.” (Read: We can expect to see stellar investment pieces in everything from latex and tweed to bouclé and leather—and beyond.)
How to Style Amazon Fashion for Winter
The key to making your new pieces work for colder temps? Layering. “Layering is my favorite way to jazz up any winter look,” says Powell. “I love...turtlenecks as a base layer under jackets and sweaters, or even a baggy tee."
Powell also urges embracing a mix of casual pieces with more sophisticated ones. "I love a cropped hoodie under an oversized blazer, well-tailored trousers and fresh sneakers," she advises. "It’s cool, effortless and comfy."
Bearing all of the above in mind, we've selected 20 top Amazon fashion pieces for winter that will be easy and versatile to style and make you feel put-together from head to toe—even in the gloomiest of conditions. Better yet, they boast a solid number of glowing reviews.

- Why We Love It: Machine washable, cool pattern
Pencil skirts are no longer just for grade school teachers. Case in point? This one that's made with 100 percent cotton. It has a pull-on design for fuss-free dressing and it hits at the ankle or mid-calf for most people, which makes it plenty versatile. (Hey, those adorable booties need to peek through somehow!) We're partial to the pictured animal print, but it also comes in black and Caper Green.
- Why We Love It: Elevated style, tons of colors
If there’s one thing you invest in this winter, let it be this oversized turtleneck. As the model/influencer off-duty staple du jour, a turtleneck adds an instant dose of sophistication to any outfit. And this knitted, poly-blend option, which has several thousand reviews, comes in nearly 45 (!) classy colorways, like Dark Apricot and Lake Blue. It's got an oversized cowl neck, so you won't even need a scarf, and we also like that its slouchy drop shoulders and batwing silhouette keep it far from boring.
- Why We Love It: Buttery feel, flatter your curves
A great pair of jeans is the foundation of any functional wardrobe, and according to our senior editor of special projects, Rachel Bowie, you'll want to invest in this versatile, high-rise denim from Mother that gets its comfort and stretch from its mid-weight cotton with a touch of elastane. This pair features an on-trend straight leg that hits just above the ankle and comes in two washes: standard faded denim and distressed standard faded. Better yet, Bowie says these jeans feel like butter against your skin and basically meld to your curves.
- Why We Love It: Great for layering, durable, breathable
Amazon has mastered the art of the essential with its aptly named Amazon Essentials line, and this striped crewneck, which has amassed several thousands of reviews (NBD) is no exception. It’s made of a cozy cotton and polyester fleece blend, making it both durable and breathable, and it comes in a ton of colorways and patterns that range from navy heather to gray camo. Extended sizing makes this practical-yet-stylish option accessible, and it boasts a tapered, body skimming-fit that will still allow you plenty of flexibility.
- Why We Love It: Pull-on tabs, padded footed
Calling all square-toe shoe fans: We just found your new dream boots. This glossy, faux leather pick has rubber soles for traction and a padded footbed that you’ll appreciate on days you've got to be on your feet. The pull tabs at the back make it easier to slip on, and its 3.7-inch heel height is enough to make a significant impact on your height while still feeling comfy.
- Why We Love It: Oversized fit, unique plaid pattern
This plaid shacket has an oversized, boxy look that not only make it warm and easy to layer, it will keep you from feeling restricted on pasta night. It's infused with tons of spandex for a stretchy feel and it has two front-button pockets for your lip gloss (or whatever else you may need handy). We also love the plaid design, which gives you that cool '90s grunge look without the predictable red-and-black color scheme.
- Why We Love It: Lightweight feel, durable material
We've said it once and we'll say it again: Turtlenecks are undoubtedly all the rage. But all that extra material at the neck can be a little suffocating for some folks. Enter: this breezier mock-neck option, which comes complete with three-quarter sleeves and a keyhole back. The lightweight chiffon will keep you from feeling stifled, and the durable polyester will ensure it stays around for more than one season.
- Why We Love It: Luxe feel, transitional design

This cozy number is meant for days when you need a little extra TLC. It’s made of high-quality fleece and features a longer fit that will keep you fully covered, plus has two side pockets to warm your hands. Setting it apart from the pack? A chic belt collar and a matching piped trim.

If you're the type who likes to look put together even when you feel like staying in PJ’s, this ultra-chic wide-leg sweatsuit will be the answer to your fashion prayers. It comes with flared sweats with an elastic waist closure and a long-sleeve top with on-trend ribbed detailing at the wrist and a cheeky side slit at the hip. Of its nearly 30 available hues, some, like the neutral chocolate and khaki, will be a safe bet, while others will turn heads, like the contrasting orange and pink. Note that it can shrink after hand-washing, according to reviewers, so be sure to size up if you like an oversized fit.
- Why We Love It: Hugs your curves, not sheer, warm
Another low-maintenance look that offers up plenty of style comes in the form of this body-hugging dress with a sexy side slit. It has a mid-length cut that will show off your favorite boots while keeping your hem from dragging in the snow. It's thick enough not to show your bra and it's plenty warm, too, according to pleased buyers.
- Why We Love It: Machine-washable, asymmetric hem, lots of patterns
You can never have too many sweaters—especially ones you can throw in the wash without fear of ruining. This one has a high-low asymmetrical hem and comes in tons of colors, so you can choose the one that best suits your style. The oversized bat sleeves also let you move your arms freely.
- Why We Love It: Adjustable, trendy, water-resistant straps
The famous lululemon fleece belt bag can be tough to find in stock, which is why we're eyeing this extremely similar-looking Amazon pick. With an adjustable strap that you can sling over your torso or wrap around your waist, it’s super practical and won't take over your frame. The straps are water-resistant, and it has a roomy interior compartment, a back zip compartment. Better yet, it's sized to fit every iPhone currently on the market.
- Why We Love It: Ultra-warm, good value
This shearling jacket has more than 26,000 reviews for a reason. With a chunky fit and a standing collar, you can throw it on over just about anything (especially if you grab it in one of the more neutral hues). It's also super warm—far warmer than you might expect, according to our commerce director, Nicole Briese, who regularly wears it on coffee runs. Huge pockets, meanwhile, seal the comfy deal.
- Why We Love It: Two to a pack, warm fleece lining
With a visor to block out the sun's glare and a soft, stretchy acrylic material, this winter cap will be the finishing touch on just about any outfit in your closet. There's a fleece lining for an added layer of warmth and it comes two to a pack, so you switch up your look on the fly (and always have a spare).
- Why We Love It: Lift-tuck technology, slimming panel
Take it from us: You *need* a pair of basic black ankle pants. And these cuties just might be the most flattering pair you'll ever own, thanks to the patented crisscross technology that makes up its slimming front panel and the lift-tuck technology that's designed to give your rear a boost. The company recommends sizing down one to accomodate its shaping features.
- Why We Love It: Wrinkle-resistant, warm, detachable belt
A wrap coat looks beautiful in any season, but this one is also conducive to warmth, thanks to its wool blend and full lining. You can keep your hands covered in the roomy side pockets, and the wrinkle-resistant fiber means you won't have to take it to the cleaners every other day. The belt is also detachable for your comfort.
- Why We Love It: Flattering cut, made for layers, lots of patterns
A casual blazer has become just as essential for your capsule wardrobe in recent years as your favorite white tee. This version from Asvivid is cut to nip in your waist and features charming gold hardware down the front. It’s made for layering (duh), and there's a ton of colors to choose from, too.
- Why We Love It: Classic style, rubber soles
Leather never goes out of style, which means you'll be wearing these luxe Coach leather knee-high boots for years to come. They've got a rubber sole that will be great for sloshing through puddles as winter gives way to spring and a mini heel for a bit of lift.
