Why Did You Kill Me? introduces viewers to the case of Crystal Theobald, a 24-year-old mother of two who was tragically murdered in Riverside, California, in 2006. It focuses on her family’s desperate attempt to find the person responsible. To do so, they create a series of fake MySpace accounts in an attempt to catfish the killer into revealing himself.
Based on the official Netflix description, we wouldn’t be surprised if the family’s method is frowned upon by investigators. It reads, “The line between justice and revenge blurs when a devastated family uses social media to track down the person who killed 24-year-old Crystal Theobald.”
The movie was directed by Fredrick Munk (Buena Vista Social Club: Adios). The filmmaker also served as a producer alongside Julian Cautherley (The Crash Reel), John Turner (Terror) and Lucy Walker (Bring Your Own Brigade).
Guess we’ll be putting on our detective hat for this one.
