New Legal Thriller Overtakes ‘Ozark’ as the Most Popular Show on Netflix with 108 Million Hours Viewed

Sorry, Ozarkit looks like there's a new show that's dominating on Netflix.

After debuting early in May, The Lincoln Lawyer managed to move into the number-one spot on the streaming service's list of most-watched shows in less than a week. And now, the legal thriller is officially Netflix’s most popular English-language show, having made the Top 10 in 90 countries with a staggering 108.09 million hours viewed this week.

The 10-episode series surpassed the final season of Ozark, which clocked in at 31.4 million hours, as well as the Emmy-winning Love, Death + Robots, which raked in 14.42M hours.

If the title of this Netflix series sounds familiar, that's because a movie of the same name was released back in 2011, starring Matthew McConaughey as the eponymous lawyer, Mickey Haller. However, this movie was actually adapted from a 2005 book of the same name by crime writer Michael Connelly.

Yet, while this trending TV show uses the same title, it's actually based on the second of Connelly's books about Haller, titled The Brass Verdict. And in this series, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo fills the role of the defense attorney (but don't worry because based on the trailer, it looks like he brings an equal amount of suavity to the role).

“One thing I know—success is all about momentum,” Haller says in the trailer. “In court, before you can win, you gotta believe you can win.”

However when he's asked, “But what if you don't?” He responds, “Then you better fake it till you make it.”

Alongside Garcia-Rulfo, The Lincoln Lawyer stars Neve Campbell, Becki Newton, Jazz Raycole, Angus Sampson and Christopher Gorham. The series was created by David E. Kelley (The Practice, Big Little Lies, Ally McBeal) and developed by Ted Humphrey (The Good Wife).

All 10 episodes of The Lincoln Lawyer are now available to stream on Netflix. Don't mind us while we go binge them all at once.
