The miniseries just premiered on Netflix this week, and it’s already claimed the number one spot on the streaming service’s list of most-watched shows. (It’s currently ranked ahead of El rey Vicente Fernández, Cobra Kai, Fate: The Winx Saga, In the Dark and The Real Bling Ring Hollywood Heist.)

Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story is a scripted series about the infamous serial killer (played by Evan Peters). This shouldn’t be confused with Conversations with a Killer: The Jeffrey Dahmer Tapes, which focuses on his real-life confession.

Unlike the three-part documentary, the new show is a reenactment, and it’s mainly told through the perspective of his victims. It highlights Dahmer’s many crimes, along with the police resistance to arrest him. Monster consists of ten episodes that range from 43 minutes to an hour long.

In addition to Peters, the series also stars Richard Jenkins (Lionel), Molly Ringwald (Shari), Michael Learned (Catherine), Niecy Nash (Glenda), Michael Beach (Dennis Murphy), Shaun J. Brown (Tracy), Colby French (Patrick), Mac Brandt (Robert), Grant Harvey (Rolf), Matthew Alan (Joseph) and Scott Michael Morgan (John).

Netflix’s official synopsis reads, “Across more than a decade, 17 teen boys and young men were murdered by convicted killer Jeffrey Dahmer. How did he evade arrest for so long?”
