New Drama-Filled Series Hits #2 on Netflix in Only a Day (& It Looks *So* Good)

Calling all Cheer and Last Chance U fans: Netflix has something new for you, and it’s already one of the most popular shows on the streaming platform.

Called Last Chance U: Basketball, the 8-part series, which was released on Wednesday, March 10, follows a basketball couch in East Los Angeles as he leads young men who hope to fulfill “major college potential.” After just 24 hours on the service, the sports show has already landed the number two spot on the top ten most-watched list.

Watch the full trailer below.

Netflix’s official synopsis reads, “From Greg Whiteley (Cheer) and the team behind Emmy-winning Last Chance U comes Last Chance U: Basketball, an honest, gritty look inside the world of community college basketball. Over the course of eight episodes, viewers will follow the East Los Angeles College Huskies (ELAC) in their high-stakes chase to an unprecedented California state basketball championship. Led by passionate head coach John Mosley, the ELAC team is made up of former D1 recruits and powerhouse athletes hustling to prove themselves for a last chance to fulfill their dreams of playing at the next level. But the team is tested as the players battle adversity, inner demons, and emotions on and off the court.”

Last Chance U: Basketball comes one year after Netflix released its fifth and final season of its football docuseries Last Chance U. And considering how popular (not to mention, dramatic in a good way) the original was, we’re not surprised this version is gaining so much attention already.
