Netflix’s New #6 Series Offers Rare, Behind-the-Scenes Glimpse at Formula 1

It’s time to break out your surround-sound speaker system (sorry, neighbors), because Netflix’s most thrilling series is back with more gripping episodes.

We’re talking about Formula 1: Drive to Survive, which just dropped season three. Although the new installments premiered on the streaming service just a few days ago, they’ve already claimed a spot on Netflix’s list of most-watched shows. (It’s currently ranked at number six behind Ginny & Georgia, Country Comfort, Cocomelon, The One and iCarly.)

So, what is Drive to Survive about? The docuseries offers a never-before-seen glimpse of the sport of Formula 1 (AKA F1). The series gives viewers a behind-the-scenes look at all ten teams, who each appoint two drivers every year to represent their cars on the grid.

Although each driver tries to accumulate points every race for the F1 World Champion ranking, the team is working toward one common goal: The World Constructors’ Championship, which is an accumulation of points obtained by both teammates, along with the engineers, throughout the entire season.

Featured drivers include Valterri Bottas, Max Verstappen, Charles Leclerc, Lando Norris, Daniel Ricciardo, Sebastian Vettel, Pierre Gasly, Lance Stroll and—of course—Lewis Hamilton.

The best part? There’s still time to binge-watch Formula 1: Drive to Survive before the first race of the 2021 season airs on Sunday, March 28.

Ready? Set. Start your (streaming) engines!
