My Favorite Reality Show of 2025 Had a Final Twist that Left Me Shook

No spoilers here, but I did not see that coming

By no means is it front page news that The Traitors is a really, really great reality show. The British, Claudia Winkleman-hosted version has been a massive hit for years, and the American, Alan Cumming-hosted iteration won the Emmy for Outstanding Reality Competition Series in 2024 and 2025.

That said, I just binge-watched the Brits' first celebrity version, The Celebrity Traitors, now streaming on Peacock, and trust me when I say I'm obsessed. In fact, this new UK season was my favorite reality show of 2025. Seriously, it's so good and so bingeable.

For a U.S. audience, the British celebrities may be a little less familiar than in the American version. That said, they make for great TV—and you'll probably recognize at least a handful of them.

As I mentioned, Winkleman is the fabulous host, with her witty and dry sense of humor. But perhaps the most gripping part of her hosting work is that she becomes personally invested in the game and in the players. She roots so hard for them and genuinely forms relationships with them. (Wait for the touching moment when Ted Lasso star Nick Mohammed asks her for a hug.)

The celeb cast includes Alan Carr, Cat Burns, Celia Imrie, Charlotte Church, Clare Balding, David Olusoga, Joe Marler, Joe Wilkinson, Jonathan Ross, Kate Garraway, Lucy Beaumont, Mark Bonnar, Nick Mohammed, Niko Omilana, Paloma Faith, Ruth Codd, Stephen Fry, Tameka Empson and Tom Daley. These may not be household names for most Americans, but they know how to bring the drama.

So why is this particular iteration so good? First of all, without giving any spoilers, the players are pretty terrible at the game. They all come in with ideas of how they'll catch a Traitor or how they'll make it to the end, and then they proceed to fail spectacularly.

Then, of course, there are the Traitors themselves. Again no spoilers, but the selection of the season's Traitors is impeccably done (brava, Claudia!).

In a normal season of The Traitors, I tend to glaze over a bit during the group competitions. They are less exciting to me than the Roundtables or the dramatic "who will walk through the door" breakfast reveals. But in this season? The competitions are actually fun to watch. This is mostly due to the fact that the group of celebs is really invested in their success, and they truly work as a team to try to bank money for the prize pot (which, of course, goes to charity).

And then, there's that surprise ending...

Let's just say I gasped when I reached the season's conclusion. Wow, wow, wow. (Please go watch it now so we can talk about it!)

Though it may have been a great year for TV in general (I had a ton of favorite shows), when it comes to reality TV, The Celebrity Traitors UK reigns supreme.
