Gritty New Thriller Hits #6 on Netflix and the Trailer Alone Has My Adrenaline Pumping

The tension is palpable

Every week (okay, every day) it feels like there’s a new wave of shows and movies dropping on streaming platforms, and honestly? It’s overwhelming. From laugh-out-loud comedies to gripping docuseries to psychological thrillers, the options are endless. And with limited time and attention spans, I think we can all agree: no one wants to waste a night on a movie that’s just…meh.

Personally, I’m all about high-stakes, edge-of-my-seat action. So when Bullet Train Explosion popped up in my Netflix queue, I knew it was time to grab the snacks and buckle in.

Just watching the trailer had my adrenaline spiking. It starts off with a calm, almost serene tone—passengers boarding a sleek bullet train, strangers sharing small talk, everyone quietly making their way to Tokyo. But spoiler alert: things go wildly off track.

In a twist straight out of a 90's action flick, the train is rigged to explode if it slows down below 100 kph. Chaos ensues. Alarms blare. Panic erupts. At one point, it even seems like the government throws in the towel, leading to a fiery, emotional debate. And yes—that’s all just in the trailer.

The vibes are very Speed-esque (remember that ‘90s classic with Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves?). Well, turns out Bullet Train Explosion is actually a remake of a 1975 Japanese film that inspired Speed. So basically, we’re getting a high-octane homage with a modern twist—and I’m so here for it.

Clearly, I’m not alone. The film hit number six on Netflix’s Top 10 just one day after its release. And Rotten Tomatoes users are loving it, too.

“Definitely worth a watch, keeps you guessing and fast paced,” one person wrote. Another shared, “This was a great watch… it was a fun movie that made me want to watch every second of it.” A third added, “Bullet Train Explosion feels like a blockbuster made for adults.”

Bottom line? If you’re craving an intense, popcorn-worthy ride, Bullet Train Explosion is your next weekend watch. And it's streaming now on Netflix.
