When it comes to shows and movies, I’m a sucker for some good old-fashioned action—give me suspense, twists and just the right amount of chaos, and I’m in. So naturally, when I spotted The Diamond Heist climbing the Netflix Top 10, I had to see what the hype was about. At first glance, wasn’t totally convinced. It’s listed as a documentary, which can be hit or miss for me. But then I watched the trailer—and let’s just say, I was hooked.
The Diamond Heist isn’t your average true-crime doc. Yes, it covers the real-life attempted robbery of the De Beers Millennium Star, a 203.4-carat diamond worth over £350 million (roughly $464 million USD), in November 2000 by Lee Wenham and six others—aka the so-called "Diamond Geezers.” But it also blends in scripted, cinematic reenactments that make it feel like you’re watching a full-blown thriller. Oh, and did I mention it’s executive produced by Guy Ritchie? Yep—the same guy behind The Gentlemen and Snatch. Sold.
