In a sea of new films and shows dropping almost daily, grabbing a binge-watcher’s attention is no small feat. One way a series stands out? Landing in Netflix’s Top 10. While titles like Death by Lightning and Nobody Wants This have dominated the charts since their releases, a fresh show has just broken in and it’s definitely worth the hype.

Sitting at number 10 is Bad Influencer (not to be confused with the streamer’s true-crime doc Bad Influence: The Dark Side of Kidfluencing). At first glance, you might think it’s a parody of influencer culture but it’s actually more of a drama where one character happens to be an influencer. Set in Johannesburg, the series follows BK (Jo-Anne Reyneke), a struggling fashion designer and single mom, who teams up with Pinky (Cindy Mahlangu), a social media influencer, to run a counterfeit luxury handbag business.

Since its October 31 release, the show has been slowly climbing the charts. While it doesn’t yet have enough reviews for a Rotten Tomatoes score, early reactions are positive.

"Bad Influencer is thoroughly enjoyable and arresting," one critic wrote. Another noted, "It doesn’t take itself seriously all the time, which is refreshing for a show that’s mostly about counterfeiting and organized crime."

And fans are already hoping for more.

"I would love to see more seasons to come—very entertaining, a lot of suspense and danger. I would recommend watching," one viewer shared. Another added, "Is it too soon to want season two? I think the creator would kill it if there was one."

As one reviewer put it best, a mix of action, drama and a playful nod to our obsession with influencer culture is exactly the kind of show Netflix needs right now.

Bad Influencer is streaming now and if you haven’t checked it out yet, it might just be your next binge.
