After more than a decade in the NFL and three Super Bowl wins (all with the Kansas City Chiefs), fans have been wondering: Is this the year Travis Kelce finally hangs up his cleats? Well, last week, the star tight end gave everyone their answer—he’s not going anywhere. Despite the fact that he could likely make more money in retirement, Kelce confirmed he’s suiting up for another season. Now, he’s opening up about why.

On the Wednesday, March 5 episode of his podcast New Heights—which he co-hosts with his brother, Jason Kelce (who retired last year from the Philadelphia Eagles)—Travis got real about his decision.

"Why are you playing another season?" Jason asked. "Why are you going to go out there, risk injury, and make less money than you could make not playing football?"

“That was kinda the one I had to juggle right there,” Travis admitted before adding, “The biggest thing is that I f—king love playing the game of football. I love playing. I still think I can play it at a high level, and possibly at a higher level than I did last year.”

When news first dropped of Travis's decision to stick around for another year, of course, he didn't just make a simple announcement—he made it funny. In a joint post on social media, he posted a clip from The Wolf of Wall Street where Leonardo DiCaprio’s character yells, “I’m not f—king leaving!” But in Travis’s version, he hilariously swapped out DiCaprio’s face (and those of the other characters) with his own, plus Chiefs coach Andy Reid and quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Outside of football, Travis has been keeping himself busy with a slew of side projects. He’s starred in Ryan Murphy’s horror series Grotesquerie, has a role in Happy Gilmore 2 and is hosting Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity? He even executive-produced the indie film My Dead Friend Zoe.

Looks like retirement can wait. Congrats on another season, Travis.
